Letter of Recommendation 1

To Whom It May Concern:

I serve as the Founder and managing Partner of our firm, which specializes in tax preparation for owners of small businesses and the self-employed. Our firm was established ten years ago with the goal of providing tax planning for entrepreneurs, as well as bookkeeping and other complimentary services.

Mr. Salas was employed with our firm from May 2012 through December, 2014, when he departed to seek other opportunities with another firm. Mr. Salas remains eligible for rehire to this day.

During his tenure with our firm, he grew greatly in his job duties, performance and responsibilities. He was originally hired as a tax assistant, but eventually grew into the position of Senior Tax Officer, wherein he excelled at a myriad of tasks. In this capacity, he performed the following work on a daily basis and excelled in the following duties:

  • Calls to California FTB and IRS officers to obtain client case file collection holds;
  • Calls to California FTB and IRS officers to negotiate and resolve tax balance disputes, including settlement of balances, filings dates and payment plans;
  • Documentation of tax file data and management of official client transcript reports in files;
  • Preparation of 1040 tax returns and related schedules, including A, B, C, D and E;
  • Review of e-Filing requirements, and serving as our Firm's e-filing compliance officer;
  • Teleconference and in-person meetings with clients to provide clients with case file updates; and
  • Coordinating with accounting team staff members as to pre-review and preparation of tax returns, to ensure accuracy of data.

Mr. Salas was successful at the company due to his work ethic and desire for continued learning. He demonstrated an eagerness for acquiring new knowledge. Despite the fact that he had not previously worked in the tax industry, he very much seemed to take to the tax work “like a fish to water.” Certainly, he did encounter a number of challenges as his assignments became more complex and as his responsibilities grew. However, I can unequivocally state that he persevered and used any challenge as a learning opportunity. In fact, we could always rely that each time he learned and went to the next level, we did not worry about his retention of the material or benefiting from the training. Mr. Salas worked well with others, and was most certainly a team player.

Since our firm's founding in 2004, I have had the opportunity to work with literally hundreds of different employees. Mr. Salas demonstrated through commitment and attitude what every employer desires: consistency, positive attitude and above normal commitment to the Company and its clients.

In closing, I am available to answer any specific questions that you may have. Feel free to contact me as you may require, as I am pleased to recommend him for any such similar position.

Sincerely,
John Davis
